SportAccord International Convention is a five-day gathering of 1500 leading representatives from international sport. The annual convention is held in a different country each year and encompasses the Congress and General Assemblies of over 100 international sports federations and their related associations. Its mission is to offer the sports community a powerful opportunity to come together on a global scale, in an exclusive and authoritative networking environment, to build relationships, share knowledge and develop ideas.

In March 2009, SportAccord signed an agreement with the city of Beijing, P. R. China, to organise the first SportAccord Combat Games. Scheduled from 28 August to 4 September 2010, the competition will showcase 13 Martial Arts and Combat sports, both Olympic and non-Olympic. The event will also include a Cultural Program that will reflect the social and cultural values of these sports and Combat Games as a whole.

In collaboration with the IOC and WADA, SportAccord has launched a doping-free sport unit for its Members. It provides support with regard to the World Anti-Doping Code compliance and the development of Code-compliant anti-doping rules and regulations. It acts as a central point for Members, in order to create and contribute to synergies and help them to benefit from each other’s experience.
Launched in July 2009, this project will grow in the coming years, when a wider range of services is available, with a focus on economies of scale on the implementation costs. | |
